Road Construction





The following is a brief summary of the anticipated major Road Projects for the 2017 construction season.  More specific information will be added throughout the construction season as it becomes available.
CSAH 3 Reconstruction
Start of Construction: 2018        Open to Traffic: 2019
 
Contractor: TBD
 
This project includes the removal of existing pavement, subsurface soils corrections, road widening, horizontal and vertical curve adjustments, and new pavement on CSAH 3 from CSAH 1 to Carver County.  During construction the road will be closed to all thru traffic, but access will be maintained for individuals living along or doing business along the road.  The project will be funded using a combination of State Aid and Local funds.
 
July 3rd Update:  Right of Way acquisition is nearly complete and construction plans have been approved.  The project will be advertised for contractors later this fall or winter with construction expected to begin in 2018.  Utility companies may be on site in 2017 relocating existing utilities that conflict with the upcoming construction.
 
 
CSAH 15 Reconstruction
Start of Construction: 2018       Open to Traffic: 2019

July 3rd Update:  We are working on completing the necessary right of way acquisition and finalizing construction plans.  The project will be advertised for contractors later this fall or winter with construction expected to begin in 2018.  Utility companies may be on site in 2017 relocating existing utilities that conflict with the upcoming construction.


CSAH 3 Concrete Overlay
Start of Construction: June 12, 2017      Open to Traffic: August 1, 2017
 
Contractor: PCI Roads, LLC of St. Michael, MN
 
This project includes milling off a portion of the existing asphalt pavement and the installation of new concrete pavement from CR 75 (Nature Ave) to Glencoe.  During construction the road will be closed to all thru traffic, but access will be maintained for individuals living along or doing business along the road.  The project will be funded using State Aid funds.
 
September 11th Update:  The contractor has completed all major work items and clean up associated with the construction project.  The project is complete and the road is open to all traffic.  County forces may be on site periodically in the coming weeks to complete any necessary seeding.  Please use caution when traveling the roadway if workers are present along the road.


Hamlet Ave Bridge Replacement
Start of Construction: Late May       Open to Traffic: Fall, 2017
 
Contractor: S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. of Jordan, MN
 
This project consists of the replacement of the existing Glencoe Township bridge on Hamlet Ave about 500' south of US 212.  During construction the crossing will be closed to all traffic.  The project will be funded using Township bridge funds and Glencoe Township funds.
 
September 11th Update:  The contractor has completed the majority of the new bridge construction including the construction of the new bridge deck.  Remaining work includes culvert installation, grading, and asphalt paving.  The contractor expects to have the remaining major work items complete around October.  The crossing will remain closed to all traffic until project completion. 


CSAH 24 Box Culvert
Start of Construction: September/October      Open to Traffic: Fall, 2017
 
Contractor: TBD
 
This project consists of removing the existing metal culvert and installing a new concrete box culvert on CSAH 24 about 500' north of CSAH 11.  The project will be funded using a combination of State Bridge Bond and State Aid funds.
 
September 11th Update:  Bids for the project were opened on September 7th and the apparent low bidder is Land Pride Construction of Paynesville.  The contract will go to the County Board next week for potential award with construction expected to begin in late September or early October.  Once construction begins it is expected to be complete in 2 - 3 weeks.  During construction the crossing will be closed to all traffic. 


CR 54 Surface Improvements
Start of Construction:  2018                   Open to Traffic: 2018
 
Contractor: TBD
 
This project includes blending the existing gravel surface with cement powder to create a stabilized aggregate surface from Sunset Circle to approximately 1 mile north of Sunset Circle.  Once the stabilized aggregate surface is prepared, a chip seal will be placed over the gravel.  During construction the road will be closed to all thru traffic, but access will be maintained for individuals living along or doing business along the road.  The project will be funded using Local funds.
 
July 25th Update:  Bids have been rejected for the planned 2017 construction.  The project will likely be re-bid for construction in 2018.
 
 
CR 62 Drainage Improvements
Start of Construction:  Summer, 2017                    Open to Traffic: Summer, 2017
 
Contractor: Vreeman Construction
 
This project includes installation of drain tile in the roadbed of CR 62 from CR 70 to TH 22.  Drain tile installation is intended to improve the drainage characteristics of the current road in advance of a future surface stabilization project.  During construction the road will be closed to all thru traffic, but access will be maintained for individuals living along or doing business along the road.  The project will be funded using Local funds.
 
August 23rd Update:  The contractor began tile installation on August 22 and completed the work on August 23.  The road is open to all traffic.


2017 Seal Coat
Start of Construction:  June 20, 2017                     Open to Traffic: No Closure
 
Contractor: Scott Construction, Inc. of Lake Delton, WI
 
The 2017 Seal Coat contract includes approximately 24 miles of pavement county-wide.  Seal coat roads include CSAH 17, CSAH 26, CSAH 11, CR 55, and CSAH 103.  The project will be paid for using Local funds.
 
July 10th Update:  The contractor has completed all seal coat and pavement marking activities.
