The McLeod County Solid Waste Management department is responsible for managing a variety of programs including the Household Hazardous Waste Facility and mobile collections, curbside recycling, drop-box and township shed recycling locations, public education on various solid waste abatement topics, solid waste licensing and permitting, Solid Waste Ordinance coordination and enforcement, landfill surcharges, problem material management (fluorescent bulbs, tires, appliances, electronics, empty pesticide containers, etc), yard waste, and source reduction.

Residents in McLeod County no longer have to "Sort" their recycling. All acceptable recyclable material can now be co-mingled in the new green/tan recycling cart. Recycling collection will still take place on your designated refuse/organics collection day, with the exception that, recycling collection will be EVERY OTHER WEEK.
