The Treasurer is the caretaker of County funds. The Treasurer is the Investment Officer for the County and is responsible for investing the County funds in an efficient manner.  The Treasurer countersigns all warrant checks issued by the county for obligations such as salaries and operating costs.  The Treasurer processes and deposits all receipts for dollars being collected by all County departments.

The Treasurer is responsible for mailing and collecting current year property taxes for approximately 20,000 real, personal and mobile home properties. The Treasurer balances and prepares the distribution of current year tax collections to the various taxing authorities.

Other functions include reconcilation of county bank accounts; calculation and collection of Deed Tax and Mortgage Registration Tax; processing of legal documents before final recording with the County Recorder; current tax certifications; escrow of tax payments; all State and Federal Payroll Tax Reporting; and M-1PR (Minnesota Property Tax Refund) assistance and forms.
