Veteran Services is a department under the direction of the McLeod County Board of Commissioners. The Veterans Service Officer is an appointed official as directed by State Statute to act as a liaison between local veterans and both the State of Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Our primary responsibility is to provide assistance in obtaining veterans benefits including: medical care, financial, employment and education assistance, burial and death benefits, as well as other services or information as required.
The Veterans Service Officer represents the County and works with local Veterans Organizations to include the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the McLeod County Veterans Association.
As a Deputy Recorder for McLeod County, this office also processes all official copies of military discharges.
Veteran Services also operates the McLeod County Veterans Van which transports local veterans to and from medical appointments at the VA Medical Centers in Saint Cloud and Minneapolis.
Our office is located in Suite 115 of the County Courthouse at 830 East 11th Street, Glencoe, MN 55336. Office hours are Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Appointments are highly encouraged.
