Driver’s License Renewal
You must submit your currents driver’s license. A vision test and photo will be required. Applicants under 18 years of age must have their application signed by their parent or guardian. We cannot transfer an out of state driver’s license to Minnesota without additional testing. See New Residents info below.

Retesting Fees:
Third and subsequent knowledge/written test: $10.00
Third and subsequent road/skill test: $20.00
State ID Card
You can obtain a Minnesota identification card by completing the driver’s license application and presenting two forms of proper identification. A photo will be taken and included on the ID card.
Fees:
Under age 65: $18.00
Age 65 and older: $11.00
Person with physical or developmental disability or qualified mental illness: $.50
To receive a reduced fee ID card complete the Eligibility Form.
New Residents of Minnesota
If you are a driver moving into Minnesota from another state, certain U.S. territories, or Canada, it may be possible for you to get a license by passing the appropriate written test(s) and vision test only. To be able to do this you must have a valid driver’s license (or one which has been expired less than one year) from your former home state and a certified copy of your birth certificate.
