The family day care licensing process in McLeod County starts with the Day Care Orientation Class. The classes are held the first Wednesday of every month from 9:30 a.m. until noon at the Health and Human Services Building (1805 Ford Avenue North, Glencoe). All the initial paperwork is distributed at the orientation. There is no fee to attend this class.
The entire licensing process can take up to three months. There is a $50.00 licensing fee due at the time the application is submitted. Background checks, references, and a home inspection are required in order to complete the licensing process. Laws regarding family child care provider regulations are defined in Minnesota Statute 245A and Minnesota Rule Chapter 9502.
