Road Construction



The following is a brief summary of the anticipated major Road Projects for the 2018 construction season.  More specific information will be added throughout the construction season as it becomes available.

CSAH 3 Reconstruction
Start of Construction: June, 2018        Open to Traffic: Fall, 2019      Final concrete paving will take place in 2019
 
Contractor: Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eye, MN
 
This project includes the removal of existing pavement, subsurface soils corrections, road widening, horizontal and vertical curve adjustments, and new pavement on CSAH 3 from CSAH 1 to Carver County.  During construction the road will be closed to all thru traffic, but access will be maintained for individuals living along or doing business along the road.  The project will be funded using a combination of State Aid and Local funds.
 
June 29 Update:  Construction is underway, road is closed to thru traffic.  Road has been milled and/or reclaimed.  Culvert and earthwork will be underway soon, weather permitting.    
 
 
CSAH 15 Reconstruction
Start of Construction: June, 2018       Open to Traffic: Fall, 2019      Final concrete paving will take place in 2019

 This project includes the removal of existing pavement, subsurface soils corrections, road widening, horizontal and vertical curve adjustments, and new pavement on CSAH 15 from CSAH 22 to Trunk Highway 7.  During construction the road will be closed to all thru traffic, but access will be maintained for individuals living along or doing business along the road.  The project will be funded using a combination of State Aid and Local funds.

Dakota Trail Paving
Start of Construction: Summer, 2018      Open to Traffic: Fall, 2018
 
Contractor: Structural Specialties of Hutchinson, MN
 
This project includes removal of a portion of the existing rail bed material and paving from CSAH 1 in Lester Prairie to Carver County.  The project will also include the construction of a parking lot and trail head near Central Park in Lester Prairie as well as a new bridge over Otter Creek.  The trail will be closed to recreational traffic during construction.  The project will be primarily funded through a state Legacy Grant.
 
June 29 Update:  Contract has been awarded.  Anticipated start date is later summer due to lead time for bridge components.  Paving of the trail and construction of the new bridge is expected to be complete late in 2018.


CR 54 Surface Improvements
Start of Construction:  mid July, 2018                   Open to Traffic: Summer, 2018
 
Contractor:  All States Pavement & Reclmation of Rogers, MN
 
This project includes blending the existing gravel surface with cement powder to create a stabilized aggregate surface from Sunset Circle to CSAH 7.  Once the stabilized aggregate surface is prepared, a chip seal will be placed over the gravel.  The project will also include profile milling and a new chip seal from CR 87 to Sunset Circle in an effort to improve the ride quality of the existing stabilized surface.  During construction the road will be closed to all thru traffic, but access will be maintained for individuals living along or doing business along the road.  Construction is expected to last about 2 weeks.  The project will be funded using Local funds.
 
June 29 Update:  Contractor scheduled to begin construction in mid July.
 
 

CR 62 Surface Improvements
  
This project includes blending the existing gravel surface with cement powder to create a stabilized aggregate surface on the gravel sections from 130th Street to Trunk Highway 22.  Once the stabilized aggregate surface is prepared, a chip seal will be placed over the gravel.  During construction the road will be closed to all thru traffic, but access will be maintained for individuals living along or doing business along the road.  Construction is expected to last about 2 weeks.  The project will be funded using Local funds.
  
June 29 Update:  This project did NOT get awarded and will not be completed at this time.  It may be considered in future years.


2018 Seal Coat
Start of Construction:  June 27, 2018                   Open to Traffic: No Closure
 
Contractor: Scott Construction of Lake Delton, WI
 
The 2018 Seal Coat contract includes approximately 20 miles of pavement county-wide.  Seal coat roads include CSAH 5, CSAH 4, CR 62, CR 79, and CR 56.  The project will be paid for using Local funds.
 
June 29 Update:  Project is underway, should be completed within 1 week, weather permitting.
